“I don’t need a meal plan to save money” <– said no one ever.
And if by some slim chance those words did slip out of someone’s mouth, they were lying. They might not make a monthly meal plan. There might not be a weekly meal plan. Maybe there isn’t even a daily meal plan.
But if they know what they’re having to eat at their next meal, it’s a meal plan.
And I’m willing to bet that they reason they know what they’re eating next is either a) so they don’t go hungry, or b) don’t have to go out and buy food.
Which in case you didn’t know, option B is by default saving money.
So, with that said, it’s August. Home to the end of summer, the start of school and hot afternoons that didn’t get the memo that summer was ending.
On the other hand, long hot days make a weekend spent at the pool or late night water balloon fights on a school day a bit more special.
And having some sort of a a meal plan in place makes it possible to have a weekend at the pool and water balloon fight without having to go shopping, spend money or go hungry.
(Like how I brought that full circle there?)
As I do every month, I’ve pulled together some delicious and frugal meals to help you feed your family awesome food without going broke. You don’t have to use the whole thing and you don’t even have to use it in the order I wrote it.
Pick and choose what meals sound good to you and go from there. You never know – your next family favorite meal might be waiting for you in this month’s meal plan!

Many families have their own typical breakfast routine, but sometimes it’s nice to have something other than cereal and oatmeal.
This month I’m sharing a few ideas that are guaranteed to rock the socks off your family. They’re made with ingredients you’ll likely already have on hand and depending on your mood, they can all easily be doubled for future breakfasts.
Stuck in a lunch rut? I’ve got some yummy ideas to help you out!
My goal is to always serve leftovers first so that you’re not wasting food, but then try some new recipes when those are all gone. These three below are perfect for on the go or at home, and they won’t heat up the kitchen either!
I included one really easy and one slightly challenging dessert recipes this month. Use on-sale produce for the ice pops, and save the cheesecake for a special occasion, like Monday!
