I’d like to show you my super easy homemade Cajun seasoning recipe!
WHAT IS CAJUN SEASONING?
Cajun seasoning is a blend of spices that originated in Louisiana, so it’s sometimes called Louisiana Cajun seasoning. It’s usually a blend of various peppers (paprika, cayenne, black pepper) and garlic powder, with additional spices for a deep bold flavor.
Cajun seasoning and Creole seasoning are similar, but Cajun seasoning focuses more on ground pepper flavors like cayenne pepper and black pepper, while Creole seasoning has additional spices like rosemary and thyme. They do have several common ingredients though, like oregano and paprika mixed with something that provides some heat. Cajun seasoning is typically a bit spicier than Creole seasoning.
Cajun seasoning and Blackened Seasoning also have some flavors in common. However, blackened seasoning mix has less heat, and the focus is more on smoked paprika, along with more aromatic herbs like dried thyme and basil, for a milder flavor perfect for searing chicken or fish.
