Easy recipe for thick & creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette – just 3 ingredients: Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, & Dijon mustard! Add honey or maple syrup if desired for added sweetness. Great for spring green salad or pasta salad.
When we first switched to real food, one of the first items I started making from scratch was salad dressing.
I’ve mastered homemade ranch dressing, Greek dressing, and even Caesar dressing.
But what if you want something different? Something that’s quick and easy and light, but not lacking in flavor?
That’s where my easy vinaigrette recipe comes into play!
Light and Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette Recipe
Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t come up with this recipe sooner, because not only is it AMAZING, it’s also:
- Ridiculously quick & easy.
- Made in a jar! (no dishes!) I love using mason jars for homemade dressing and these lids make it super easy to shake and pour!
- Good on all sorts of salads.
- Creamy, in a no-mayo, no-yogurt kind of way.
- Naturally gluten-free and dairy-free!
Plus, it gets rave reviews from the kids every time I make it. Seriously, this has been my go-to dressing the whole season!
Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing Ingredients
I don’t live near a Corner Bakery, so I’m not sure if my own balsamic vinaigrette recipe tastes like theirs, but I’m willing to bet that mine is lighter and healthier because you only need three ingredients:
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Olive Oil
- Dijon Mustard
Don’t have Dijon mustard? You can easily substitute brown mustard or spicy mustard. So if you go the spicy route, start with 1 tablespoon and adjust to taste!
Also, sometimes I add a smidge of honey or maple syrup, but do whatever tastes good to you!
How to Make this Healthy Vinaigrette Recipe
- Combine the vinegar and olive oil in a small jar.
- Add the mustard, close the jar, and shake well.
- Enjoy!
Want to make a white balsamic vinaigrette recipe?
No problem! Just substitute white balsamic vinegar for the traditional balsamic vinegar in the recipe below, and no other changes are needed!
What is Balsamic Vinaigrette made of?
My recipe has just three ingredients: balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and mustard!
Is Balsamic Vinaigrette healthy?
Yes, because researchers believe it has many health benefits.
How long does homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette last?
Both vinegar and oil are natural preservatives, so this dressing lasts at least a week or two in the fridge. This recipe makes enough for one main dinner salad, and possibly two nights worth of side salads.
Is balsamic vinegar the same as Balsamic Vinaigrette?
No. Balsamic vinegar is just one ingredient, but balsamic vinaigrette is a recipe that calls for balsamic vinegar.
