Hello!
Call me weird, but I actually LIKE to go grocery shopping.
I like to look at things, read the labels and ingredients, compare prices and see the competing brands on the store shelves.
Now I know that online grocery shopping has been a tremendous blessing for a lot of families, and I use it myself monthly… the convenience can’t be beat!
But since BUDGET IS KING, we have to be intentional even when we shop online. We have to compare brands and crunch the numbers and really make sure we’re getting the best deal on the things we need… and ONLY the things we need… and we have to guard ourselves when we’re tempted to add things to our cart because it’s easier than making a trip to the store.
(Psst… I’m not talking about the times when the whole family is vomiting, or family is unexpectedly coming in town and you’re working late all week, or the legitimate times when you absolutely cannot go to the grocery store. I’m talking about the times when you feel lazy… because you know what? Sometimes I feel lazy too! This is when we have to be careful and not let ourselves take the easy road simply because we don’t feel like doing the work. The BUDGET IS KING, and our shopping decisions should reflect that.)
After all these years, there are only a few places where I grocery shop online and one of my favorites is Amazon.
I keep a running list (on an app on my phone) of the things I always buy from Amazon because Amazon has the best price. (The fact that I’m an Amazon Prime member and get free 2-day shipping – sometimes ONE day shipping – is just a perk!)
I get asked often what I buy from Amazon, so I thought I’d share my list with you this week!
- Non-GMO Popcorn
- Einkorn All-purpose Flour
- Dried Elderberries (note, the price on elderberries can vary drastically! It’s fairly good price now, so if you want them for the Fall/Winter buy now!)
- Nettle Leaf
- Dairy-free Chocolate Chips
- Active Dry Yeast
- Real Salt
- Cassava Flour
- Sunflower Lecithin
- Oolong Tea
- Coconut Aminos
- Gluten-Free Baking Mix
- Coconut Oil
- Beet Root Powder
Obviously, I don’t buy everything on this list, every month. That 10 lb bucket of salt will last me a year!
But these are the things that if I need them, I always buy them at Amazon because that’s who has the best deal.
And If I didn’t have a Costco nearby, I can guarantee you that list would be a whole lot longer… Here are my favorites that you can find on Amazon as well!
- coffee
- peanut butter
- oats
- turbinado sugar
- cashews
- almonds
- quinoa
- olive oil
- walnuts
- maple syrup
- raw honey

PS – Here’s a tip from my husband to help you when you’re comparing prices: use an incognito window! Like so many online sites, Amazon recognizes your shopping habits and over time, they’ll only show you what THEY think you want to see. By using an incognito window first, you can get unbiased search results and compare prices at the same time.
