Whip up this simple guacamole in less than 5 minutes! Whether you enjoy guac with chips for a zesty, creamy snack or add it to a meal, you’ll come back to this easy guacamole recipe again and again.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 avocados, sliced in half, (remove the pit) (300g)
  • ⅛ tsp pepper
  • ⅛ tsp granulated garlic
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp salt (3g)
  • lime (1 wedge), juiced (5g)
  • 1 Roma tomato, diced (60g)

Instructions

  1. Add avocado to a stand mixer OR mash by hand until it’s the consistency you like.
  2. Add the spices and lime juice and mix well.
  3. Fold in the tomatoes.
  4. Taste, and adjust seasonings if desired.

Notes

Variations:

  • Want ultra-creamy and smooth guacamole? Make guacamole in a food processor or blender and add sour cream. Skip any mix-ins that will tinker with the texture.
  • Want chunky guacamole? Gently mash the avocadoes with a fork and spoon in a mixing bowl until the guac is as chunky as you want. Fold in your mix-ins to preserve the larger pieces of avocado.
  • Want super mild guacamole? Follow the seasonings in my recipe below but HALVE them. If it’s not seasoned enough, add more, but remember that you can’t take the seasonings back out.
  • Want kick-your-pants spicy guacamole? Add chopped Serrano chiles, chopped jalapeño pepper, or even cayenne pepper. Remember that the more wrinkly a pepper is, the hotter it is! And if you roast them in the oven first, you get bonus points – fire-roasted peppers are delicious!
  • Love the taste of onions? Dice up whatever you have – white, yellow, red, green, shallots… you can sauté them ahead of time or keep them raw. You really can’t go wrong either way.
  • Want to add fresh cilantro? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE cilantro, but I know not everyone feels the same way. The leaves are pretty, but there’s flavor in the stems too. I’d add the stems to the food processor (if you go the creamy route) to ensure they’re finely chopped.
  • Make it unique! Add pineapple or mangoes for a really tasty variation of typical spicy salsa!
