Wow. Can you believe you’ve made it to the end of this challenge?!
I’ll admit – this challenge has been a doozy on some days. It’s not easy to realize that the container I use to store my flour is contaminated with BPA. That there’s high fructose corn syrup in my ketchup and those small short cuts here and there are really only cutting myself and my family short.
But I never would have known unless I had taken that first initial step of turning the container over. Of reading a label. Of taking a moment to consider why I did the things I did.
And that, my friends, is how long-lasting, powerful change happens. One small step at a time.
We’ve been knee deep in daily challenges this past month, and if you’ve followed along the whole way, I have no doubt that your life (and mindset) has been completely turned upside down.
And isn’t it so awesome?!
“Kinda Crunchy” is a guide book to frugal natural living. Big goals are broken down into manageable bite-size pieces for you and explained in simple terms. It’s a daily, step-by-step guide to help you make amazing changes in your home.
Four main topics are covered – real food, saving money, easy DIY’s and natural living – and it’s all designed to help you eat better and live a healthier, more natural, life without going broke or insane in the process.
Kinda Crunchy Re-Cap (Days 23-29)
Day 23: Condiments
Condiments are often overlooked when it comes to cleaning out the kitchen, so we specifically tackled them in this challenge.
From reading labels to making condiments yourself, this is an eye opening challenge that will make you think twice when shopping for any jarred item ever again!
Day 24: Make-up
I’ve been making my own make-up for over a year now with Redmond Clay and my healthy skin is proof in the pudding that it really works.
It all starts with a simple moisturizer and how it ends depends on how much make-up you wear. But in any case, we’re ditching harmful additives and seeing how making our own not only works, but actually improves our skin!
Day 25: Food Storage
The role of food storage is quite significant in terms of natural living. It can affect your budget, the containers can affect your health and having to sort through a mess of a cabinet can affect your sanity!
We’re upgrading to glass (for free) and tackling the two areas that tend to be the most overwhelming. Three very simple action items that I promise will improve your experience in the kitchen!
Day 26: Stretch Meat
Meat is one of the high ticket items in the budget, and by using it wisely, we increase the quality without sacrificing cost!
Several ideas are offered for stretching meat at home, including how you’re using it in meals and ways to use real food to stretch it in your favorite meals!
Day 27: Beans
A literal powerhouse of nutrition, frugal source of protein and more fiber you can shake a stick at, beans are a real food staple.
Learn how to cook them from scratch (the right way), how to get picky eaters to like them and why I choose to buy beans from Palouse Brand.
(Hint: I like to know where my food comes from!)
Day 28: Dental Care (part 2)
Brushing and flossing aside, there are other ways we can improve our dental health.
Remember that dental health is linked to overall health, so I shared why we should consider the mouthwash we’re using and how a single teaspoon of coconut oil can help with tooth decay and gum disease!
Day 29: Earn More Money
Sometimes it’s not a budget issue, but a money issue, and earning extra money is one way to offset the costs of a natural living lifestyle.
TONS of ideas for ways to make money are included in this challenge (including How to Start a Blog on a Budget!) so you can contribute to your family’s finances by doing something you love!
Considering the month is practically over, it’s now or never folks – are you in?!?!
Sign up for the challenge and it will be delivered instantly. If you decide it’s just too much or too overwhelming for now, set it aside and pick it back up when you’re ready.
That’s the beauty of your journey and this challenge – you go at your own pace!
I must thank the sponsors for the Kinda Crunchy challenge, because without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. They stand behind their products 100%, and so do I – because I wouldn’t recommend them to you if I didn’t use them myself!
