Based on the reactions from readers on Pinterest and Facebook, you guys want to see what one of my high protein bars looks like. Am I right?
And you want more than a pretty picture. You want the recipe.
If that’s the case, then I have a present for you! I’ve shared the recipe for my rendition of a chocolate peanut butter protein bar at For the Family this weekend. It’s just like the commercial flavor, but instead of being filled with processed foods, it’s allergy-friendly, affordable, easy to make, family-friendly and nutrient dense. Plus you’ll recognize every single ingredient in the recipe.
One batch only takes a few minutes. I tested it again my self earlier this week and it came in at just under 10 minutes. And you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like chocolate. Or peanuts! But if you do, try subbing almonds for a slightly different, yet still delicious bar! 😉
Snag the chocolate peanut butter protein bar recipe this weekend and make a batch. Or four! This flavor tied for first place in terms of which flavor my kids liked best (the other winner was Tropical Coconut and Cranberry). Offer it for breakfast, lunch or as a snack while hiking and while your family thinks its dessert, you’ll secretly know it’s doing their bodies something good!
I recently found you blog and cannot stay off of here! I ordered your e-book about the protein and bars, and love, love, love it. We are trying to change of way of eating to whole foods. I have done all the cleaning, etc. that you suggested and love how it feels!
My questions is, I live in a very small town and have limited access to health food stores, etc. Where do you get your hemp hearts and seeds? Do you order them? I would love to get some so I could make the bars.
Thanks so much for all the hard work and research that you put into this site. It is amazing and I can’t wait to read it each day! Gods blessings to you and yours.
I’m so glad you found us Libby, and even more happy you’re liking what you’ve found! Welcome to Crumbs!!! 🙂
I buy hemp hearts and chia seeds from Costco, sunflower seeds from Trader Joe’s and pepitas from Whole Foods. You can get all of the above on Amazon though for decent prices, and shipped to your door!
Check out the resources page for the book here to get links to all of the above: https://dontwastethecrumbs.com/recommend-resources-for-high-protein-no-powder-protein-bars-smoothies-made-with-real-food/
Thank you for supporting Crumbs!
These look really good! Unfortunately, I don’t dates or hemp hearts. 🙁 Anyway- I am always looking for ways to increase my family’s overall protein while reducing animal proteins in our diet (I’m not looking to eliminate animal protein, I’m just trying to do less) so this seems like a really good option. I’ll have to keep an eye out for sales on those ingredients I’m missing!
There are other options besides dates or hemp hearts, but I can’t give away all the secrets from the book. 😉
